M.L. Lexi's Inspiration for The Guilty Woman
“OH GOD! OH God, oh God, is he dead?” was the line in the novel M.L. read that led to the creation of The Guilty Woman. Reading that line got M.L.'s mind racing. Jotting down all the ideas that rushed to her, the storyline for The Guilty Woman was born.
The moment M.L. began to write the novel, the words poured onto the screen seamlessly and effortlessly. The lead character, Francesca Thompson, and her love interest, Tommy Scott, are very real to M.L. Their failures and triumphs are M.L.'s, as were the influences that kept them apart and the forthcoming circumstances that eventually brought them together.
The Guilty Woman's storyline is a favourite of M.L.'s. It emotionally moves M.L., and the protagonist and her love interest's story brings a tear to her eyes.
In one way or another, we have all been in Francesca’s shoes. We have been the youthful, naïve girl who falls in love with the bad boy our fathers disapprove of. We are all Francescas, who fall in love with dreamers like Tommy, who give them the moon and stars on their first date.
We are all the romantics who cheer Francesca on as she scours the earth to find Tommy when he disappears from her life.
I hope you enjoy Francesca's story as much as I enjoyed writing it. —M.L. Lexi
