M.L. Lexi's Inspiration for The Grieving Woman
M.L. Lexi’s inspiration for The Grieving Woman was the photograph of three women she saw while photo surfing to “cast” the characters for her book, The Noble Woman. The minute M.L. saw the picture of the three women, arms linked in friendship, the storyline of three friends popped into her head.
Conceptualizing the storyline, M.L. drew from a cup of her childhood experiences, a few teaspoons of the friendships that touched her life, and loads of what she learned in the fifty-plus years on this earth. And just like that, The Grieving Woman came to life.
When writing The Grieving Woman, M.L. was on the many-different-emotions spectrum. M.L. felt a mix of anger and sadness, happiness and tears.
Writing the last chapter of the novel brought M.L. to tears to the point she had to set the manuscript aside–several times—to collect herself before going back to writing.
I hope you enjoy Emma, Jane, and Mary’s story as much as I enjoyed writing it. —M.L. Lexi
